Looking back at 2000, this was the first San Fermín of the new millennium, though the encierro itself paid little attention to the calendar. The lineup that year included names that any student of the course will recognize: Cebada Gago on the opening morning, Jandilla for speed, Núñez del Cuvillo, and Miura to close. Partido de Resina, an older Andalusian ranch, made its last appearance in Pamplona in 2000.
The millennium carried symbolic weight for the city, and San Fermín that summer entered the new century the same way it always does: the bulls out of the corrals at eight in the morning, the white shirts and red scarves filling Santo Domingo, and whatever happens next happening faster than thought allows.

The 2000 fiesta was the first San Fermín of a new century. The lineup included several of the most recognizable names in the encierro, Cebada Gago, Jandilla, Núñez del Cuvillo, and Miura, alongside Partido de Resina, in its last year at Pamplona, and Gutiérrez Lorenzo. Adolfo Martín and Torrestrella completed the eight-ranch card.

Only five Adolfo Martín bulls ran the second encierro, a run of more than five minutes in which one bull stayed behind in the bullring. A bull of the Adolfo Martín divisa gored one runner in Mercaderes.

Partido de Resina
Partido de Resina made its last appearance in Pamplona. Seven runners were hurt.
Mon July 10 · Fourth run
Torrestrella
Gored: 3
Torrestrella ran the Monday encierro in 5:20, a very dangerous run in which two bulls straggled in Estafeta. Three runners were seriously gored.

Jandilla
Jandilla ran the fifth encierro on Tuesday, a run of more than four minutes.
Wed July 12 · Sixth run
Núñez del Cuvillo
Gored: 2
Núñez del Cuvillo ran the sixth encierro on Wednesday. Two runners were gored and eight were treated.
Thu July 13 · Seventh run
Gutiérrez Lorenzo
Gored: 5
Gutiérrez Lorenzo ran the seventh encierro on the penultimate morning of the fiesta. The last bull arrived after six minutes, and five runners were gored.

Miura

Miura closed the 2000 fiesta in 2:42, a fast run without goring a single runner.

The Partido de Resina bulls ran the third encierro of 2000. The corrida that followed was the last of the Pablo Romero bulls in Pamplona, fought under the Partido de Resina name.

July 2000 was the first San Fermín of the new century. The encierro itself changed nothing: the same 848.6 meters, starting at eight in the morning.

The official poster for San Fermín 2000 was designed by Enrique de Antonio Cebrián, selected through the annual competition administered by the Ayuntamiento de Pamplona. As the first poster of the twenty-first century, it marks a natural boundary in the visual history of the fiesta.
Artists from across Spain submit works each year; the winning design becomes the face of the fiesta on banners, programmes, and souvenirs throughout Pamplona and beyond.

Beyond the runThe City in 2000
The chupinazo opened the fiesta at noon on Thursday, July 6, 2000, from the balcony of the Pamplona town hall. The traditional programme, procession of San Fermín on July 7, bullfights, peñas, concerts, fireworks, ran on its established schedule.
The Pobre de Mí at midnight on July 14 brought the 2000 fiesta to its close.

The chupinazo fired at noon from the Pamplona town hall balcony, opening the first San Fermín fiesta of the new millennium. Eight encierros began the following morning.

The third encierro, on 9 July, was the last Pamplona turn of the Partido de Resina bulls, while Miura closed the fiesta on 14 July in 2:42.
14 July 2000
Miura closed the 2000 fiesta cleanly. Same-day press reports record at least eleven horn gorings across the week, five of them in the Gutiérrez Lorenzo run on July 13. The Pobre de Mí at midnight ended the first San Fermín of the twenty-first century.
