How Crowded 2027 Will Be

From the runners: Dennis Clancey

Bastille Day falls midweek in 2027, on Wednesday the 14th, separated from the weekend. The craziest late-fiesta crowds come in years when the 14th lands on a weekend, and it doesn’t in 2027, so the run route should stay calmer toward the close.

The natural weekend bump falls on Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th. But the biggest tourist crowds are always for the 6th, 7th and 8th no matter the weekday, then it tapers after the 8th. Nothing is as packed as the 6th and 7th always are.

What is known

Set, and Still to Come

The dates are fixed and the route never changes. What is not yet known is the year’s detail: the official cartel and the eight ganaderías are typically announced from spring 2027. We add them here as they are confirmed.

On the ground: the Paseo de Sarasate reform near the festival core is expected to be finished by summer 2027, after running through the 2026 fiesta. We will note its status as July 2027 nears.
Anniversary

The Year After the Centenary

2027 marks 104 years since Hemingway first came to Pamplona in 1923, and 101 years since The Sun Also Rises. It lands just after the 2026 centenary of the novel, carrying that moment forward.
