San Fermín 2027, Day by Day

The dates are fixed (July 6 to 14) and the run follows the same streets every year. What changes from year to year is the detail: access times, rules, works around the route. Here is how 2027 falls on the week, the detail that shapes the crowds.

How Crowded 2027 Will Be

Bastille Day falls midweek in 2027, on Wednesday the 14th, separated from the weekend. The craziest late-fiesta crowds come in years when the 14th lands on a weekend, and it doesn’t in 2027, so the run route should stay calmer toward the close.

The natural weekend bump falls on Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th. But the biggest tourist crowds are always for the 6th, 7th and 8th no matter the weekday, then it tapers after the 8th. Nothing is as packed as the 6th and 7th always are.

Which Bulls Will Run: What Is Being Reported

The Casa de Misericordia, which owns the Pamplona bullring, chooses the ganaderías, the breeders whose bulls run in the encierros, and announces them in autumn. We expect it to announce the 2027 ganaderías in November 2026, based on its last three announcements: November 9, 2023 (the 2024 list), November 22, 2024 (the 2025 list) and November 26, 2025 (the 2026 list). Cultoro, one of the outlets reporting the leak below, says November or, at the latest, December.

It has not announced 2027. But on October 16, 2026, two Spanish outlets that follow the ganaderías, Cultoro and La Voz del Toro, reported that the encierro herds will be the same as in 2026 with one change: Núñez del Cuvillo returns and Álvaro Núñez drops out. That would make the eight ganaderías Miura, José Escolar, Cebada Gago, Jandilla, Victoriano del Río, La Palmosilla, Fuente Ymbro and Núñez del Cuvillo.

Our read: likely

In the two seasons we could check in full, reports of this kind from this part of the specialist press matched the official list. A third season rests on a headline only:

Three caveats. This is a small sample. We did not audit every article these outlets have published. And the two 2027 pieces may rest on a single source. So this is a credible lead, not a fact. When the official list comes out we will replace this section with it and note how the report compared.

Who Lights the Rocket

Open Nobody has been named for 2027. The groups in the Mesa General de San Fermín propose candidates. In 2026 the Mesa shortlisted five on May 27, and residents aged 16 and over voted from June 2 to 15. The emergency medical service of Navarra won, with 3,775 of 11,740 votes. The footballer Mikel Merino, a Navarrese, told DAZN in July that he would like to light it one day. The city has made no statement about 2027. Expect the shortlist in late May and the vote in June.

Rules for the Encierro, and What Changed in 2026

Open for 2027 The Mesa del Encierro announced these changes on May 29, 2026: runners may enter the route only from Plaza Consistorial, from 7:30 a.m. instead of 7:15, and runners who enter the bullring before the bulls arrive may not stay in the ring. The same meeting reported deficiencies on 39 balconies and other facade elements along the route, with a recheck planned for June.

Recording on the route without authorisation is prohibited, phones and wearable cameras included (Article 11, Ordenanza del Encierro). By July 11, 2026 the Policía Municipal had seized 54 recording glasses during the fiesta, and serious infractions carry fines of 601 to 6,000 euros.

No changes for 2027 have been announced. Rules can change from one year to the next, so check the city’s Bando, published in June.

Parking and the Visitor Charge

In 2026 the park-and-ride lots charged for parking for the first time, at the orange-zone rates, from July 5 to July 14. The city’s June 19 notice listed 14 surface lots, and its July 7 report refers to twelve. The city’s description of its draft 2027 fee ordinance (September 22, 2026) still lists those lots as free for the first 24 hours except July 5 to 15, so a paid window around the fiesta appears to be built in. Nothing has been confirmed for 2027.

Open On September 29, 2026 a city committee approved a declaration, by 6 votes to 4 with 1 abstention, asking the city to study a San Fermín tourist-ecological charge, possibly a special San Fermín rate in the regulated parking zone with residents who hold a parking card exempt. It sets no amount and no date, and it is not in effect. The city’s announcement of its draft 2027 fees does not mention a visitor charge, and we have not seen the outcome of the October plenary vote on that ordinance. We will report any decision here.

Sarasate, Heat and Planning

Paseo de Sarasate. The reform contract is worth 15,071,144.50 euros including VAT, with an 18-month term from the start act of December 15, 2025. The works were paused and most of the Paseo reopened on provisional paving for the 2026 fiesta. The city has not said whether the work will be finished by July 2027. We will note its status as July nears.

Heat. The heat of the 2026 fiesta (see our San Fermín 2026 page) led the city to move the procession, the rural sports and some children’s events. The Mesa General de San Fermín reviewed those changes on October 14. No heat protocol has been announced for 2027.

Planning. The Mesa General opened the 2027 conversation on October 14, 2026. No decisions were reported. The official programme is normally presented in late June.

The Night Sky

The city’s international fireworks competition ran for the 25th time in 2026. Tere Rey García won gold with “Arima.” The 2027 edition and its entrants have not been announced. After the 2026 edition the competition’s director, Mikel Pagola, wrote that restoring pre-assembly of the shows the day before would help. That is his recommendation, not a decision.

What Changed, and When

• October 28, 2026 (later update): corrected the park-and-ride wording, added the committee vote on the visitor charge, tightened the track record for the 2026 season, and dated the recording-glasses count.
• October 28, 2026: page expanded into a lead-up tracker. Added the reported ganaderías with the track record of the outlets reporting them, the chupinazo process, the 2026 rule changes, parking and the visitor charge, Sarasate, heat and fireworks. Corrected the timing of the ganadería announcement and the wording about the route.
• October 14, 2026: the Mesa General de San Fermín opened planning for 2027.
